The easiest way to explain PCM (Phase Change Material) is to compare it to water. Water has 3 phases: ice, liquid and gas.
When a substance is changing phase, a lot of energy is needed. This is the force of nature Climator is utilizing. This is how ClimSel cools, heats and stabilizes.
The speed of the phase change is dependent of the heat load, ambient temperature and conductivity.
For example, Climsel C24 has the following characteristics:
Below 24° C it is solid, when ClimSel reaches 24°C or over it will turn to liquid. The same thing happens the other way around. Coming from over 24°C ClimSel is liquid and when the surrounding temperature decrease under 24°C it will turn solid.
Climator has a number of ClimSel products that can change water to ice from -18°C to +70°C and then back again.
